The result is that, so far, the health freedom movement is a totally discombobulated (yes, that's actually a word) collection of well-meaning people who spend most of their time bickering about who said what rather than doing anything really useful to protect health freedom.
It sure would be nice if we could get together and agree to pull in the same direction, but right now, the health freedom movement looks more like twelve crazed housecats trying to attack a giant ball of yarn. And I'm not about to jump into that whirlwind of claws and try to sort it all out. |

While the bill's supporters claim there is no such language contained in the bill that would subject foods and supplements to new FDA regulations, they nonetheless refuse to support the food and supplement protection amendments authored by Jonathan Emord (a high-profile attorney specializing in FDA regulatory law) and generally supported by the health freedom movement.
While S.1082 contains some useful provisions that limit advertising for new drugs, it could also ultimately be misused to threaten consumer health freedoms. |

Only Ron Paul believes in genuine health freedom. He's the creator of the health freedom Protection Act, a bill that would reestablish Free Speech provisions for makers of superfoods, herbs, nutritional supplements and other natural remedies. Under the HFPA, those individuals would be able to state scientifically-validated facts about the health benefits of their products right on the bottle! Today, the FDA doesn't allow that. All truthful statements about nutritional supplements are presently censored! |

And stay tuned to NewsTarget for more news, analysis and action alerts on health freedom. Even though we're under constant attack by criminal organizations trying to disrupt our servers and take us off line, we're still here, beating the drum for health freedom, and hoping that we have enough sane-minded Americans remaining to save this country from its government.
Actual FDA quote is gobbledygook

So does Ron Paul
Ron Paul is also the only candidate who believes in health freedom. All the other candidates would support the status quo in health care today: Big Pharma dominance, FDA censorship, monopoly prices in medicine and the assault and imprisonment of individuals who dare to tell the truth about the healing properties of the superfoods and nutritional supplements they sell. The other candidates may talk about "reforms," but all they're really talking about is a shell game of shifting who pays for all disease in this country.

With this desperate proposal by the FDA -- clearly designed as a last-ditch effort to save the failing conventional medical industry from a massive public shift towards natural medicine -- the war against health freedom has reached our shores, and the FDA is plotting a 9/11-style attack to bring down the towers of health freedom in one swift motion.
This is the same agency that currently represents the greatest threat to the health and safety of the American people, far outweighing the threat of real terrorism. |

REPPED: This is an urgent health freedom alert from NewsTarget. The deadline is tight: A vote is scheduled on the House floor on Tuesday, July 10th, to pass HR 2900 while blocking all amendments and debate. This would disallow the pro-health freedom Emord amendments which Rep. Ron Paul is ready to introduce on the floor. But thanks to Majority leader Nancy Pelosi, who has placed HR 2900 on a "Suspension Calendar" status, no debate or amendments will be allowed. |

Our lawmakers now know that members of the health freedom movement will not remain silent when their freedoms are openly threatened. This very fact will make them think twice before introducing future bills that try to regulate dietary supplements, for example, or that limit the choices of consumers. I'm not saying they won't keep trying to outlaw vitamins and expand the powers of Big Pharma and the FDA, but they've at least come to realize that we're going to raise a racket each time they attempt to do so. The health freedom community is getting noticed in Washington. |

This action is supported by many leaders and groups in the health freedom movement, even those that don't normally agree with each other. It is easy to see that HR 2900 stands as a serious threat to health freedom, and we cannot afford to miss this opportunity to introduce meaningful amendments to the legislation.
I have already called Pelosi's office and left a comment, and I will be calling my local congresswoman after posting this. |
| HR 2900 is the mirror image of Senate Bill 1082 that claimed to reform the FDA but mostly gave the agency more money and power, even creating a new entity (Reagan-Udall) that squarely puts FDA leaders in the drug business. health freedom advocates fought hard to amend S 1082 in a way that would protect nutritional supplements from FDA tyranny while banning television advertising for new drugs, but the deep pockets won out and the U.S. senate kowtowed to Big Pharma and passed the bill that drug companies preferred. |
| This will allow the bill to be brought up under a regular order, which will give Congressman Ron Paul the opportunity to offer amendments that will help support health freedom (among other things).
If you want to live in a country where you retain free access to dietary supplements, please take action now to help move HR 2900 into a status allowing debate and amendments. You must call today, tonight or early tomorrow morning (Tuesday morning).
You may also contact Reps. Hoyer, Bonner, and Blunt by calling them through the Capital Switchboard: 202-225-3121
Urge them to support the same thing. |

REPPED: When it comes to health freedom, this is the FDA's end game. A new FDA "guidance" document, published on the FDA's website, reveals plans to reclassify virtually all vitamins, supplements, herbs and even vegetable juices as FDA-regulated drugs. Massage oils and massage rocks will be classified as "medical devices" and require FDA approval. The document is called Docket No. 2006D-0480. Draft Guidance for Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration. |
| It is the latest action item by the FDA / Big Pharma conspiracy that will not stop until health freedom has been abolished, drug companies rule the nation, and every citizen is diagnosied with a fictitious disease and drugged up on monopoly-priced pharmaceuticals.
FDA "experts" will decide what's a drug or medical device
Under these proposed guidelines, FDA "experts" (the same corrupt officials who reapproved Vioxx after it killed over 50,000 Americans) will decide whether herbs, supplements, vitamins or simple devices like massage stones are to be regulated as drugs and medical devices. |

This may be a strategy by Pelosi to disallow pro-Pharma amendments from various congressional Republicans who want to water down the language, but it also has the side effect of sidelining important health freedom amendments that did not make it into the Senate version of the bill.

John: I am the president of International Advocates for health freedom, located in Point Roberts, Washington. My website is www.NoCodexGenocide.com. I had a previous website, which is now archived, at www.IAHF.com. I have been a consultant to the dietary supplement industry on legislative issues since 1989, and I was the first to call the Codex threat to international health freedom to public attention in 1996 in an article in Life Extension Magazine. |

Why natural medicine is winning
In the big picture, by the way, things are actually trending strongly towards naturopathic medicine. With this latest legislative event here in the United States, Big Pharma may have won a legislative battle, but they're losing the war. |

John Hammel of the International Advocates for health freedom (www.IAHF.com), and myself (www.NewsTarget.com) sought to garner enough grassroots support for achieving the inclusion of key amendments in the bill, such as the Dorgan amendment which, for four days, appeared to end the medical monopoly that currently forces American consumers to pay the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs. |
| The Voice of health freedom was Heard
Many thousands of Americans flooded the Senate with objections to a clause relating to the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the FDA, which could be used to target dietary supplements by evaluating them as drugs for safety purposes. While Enzi refused to change the language, we created such an uproar that assurances are officially in the Congressional Record that this legislation is not to be used to harass dietary supplements. |
| John Hammell of the International Advocates for health freedom. Support also came from many other groups who forwarded the message. All of our efforts resulted in the following testimony on the floor of the Senate as reported in the Congressional Record.
May 2, 2007:
Mr. HATCH. My office has been inundated by calls from people throughout the country who believe that this legislation, specifically the provision establishing a Reagan-Udall Institute, will overturn the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994. |

Thus, the bill is widely viewed by most people in the health freedom movement as a net loss to consumer safety, which is why grassroots opposition to S.1082 has steadily grown.
What's clear from the Senate's action on the bill is that consumers are not in any meaningful way represented by lawmakers. Rather than fighting to protect consumers' health and hard-earned dollars, the majority of senators have voted in accordance with the wishes of their corporate sponsors -- the drug companies themselves. Thus, the imminent passage of S. |

The only lasting way the mob bosses running conventional medicine today can silence NewsTarget and other health freedom websites is to pass a law outlawing free speech on the Internet, and if that happens, I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one ringing alarm bells.
Where is NewsTarget going with all this?
All this work covering the FDA and Big Pharma is not only exhausting, it's also becoming rather redundant. Sometimes, I feel like I've said everything there is to say about the FDA / Big Pharma conspiracy. |
| So after the era of FDA raids ended with the passage of DSHEA in 1994, the agency went covert, so to speak, and they've waged their war against health freedom using laws, regulations and guidelines rather than guns and body armor. It's worked beautifully for them. Following the legalization of television drug ads in late 1997, the pharmaceutical business exploded and has only increased ever since.
So now the FDA primarily uses bureaucratic tactics instead of law enforcement tactics. Hence the new CAM Guidelines. |

One good question I was asked in response to my story on FDA raids was, "Why don't you list any RECENT raids by the FDA? |

But I don't. So instead, I'm posting some follow up clarifications and comments in the hope of answering some of the more common questions we've been receiving here at NewsTarget. |

We will live to see natural cancer cures embraced in North America, and if we live long enough, we will one day see historians describing our present times as a "Dark Age" of medicine that was ultimately overcome by a health freedom movement that refused to let the truth about natural medicine remain censored and suppressed.
The future of medicine will be very different from what has pretended to be health care in recent memory. A revolution in healing is at hand. |
